Welcome to Hawarden Institute Camera Club!

Hawarden Institute Camera Club was founded in 1968 and is a member of the North Wales Photographic Association (NWPA).

The objective of the club is to promote all aspects of photography in the area by way of weekly meetings from September to April. The club meets at Hawarden Institute (click here for location details) on Tuesday nights commencing at 7.30pm.

NEW MEMBERS WELCOME!  Whatever your ability, from absolute beginner to expert.  We're a social bunch, equally happy to compare our holiday snaps or discuss competition winning techniques!

We hold internal and external photographic competitions in print, slide and digital formats with neighbouring clubs, and arrange visits to places of local interest.  Each year we take part in inter-club photographic competitions with the Chester, Mold, Ruthin, Whitby and Wrexham clubs.

We hold practical evenings as well as inviting outside lecturers to speak on photographic-related subjects.  To get in touch with the club, click here for contact details.

LATEST NEWS  (updated 06 July 2010)

  • FIRSTLY many many thanks to HAWARDEN GOLF CLUB for their marvellous hospitality on Friday 2nd July.  We were invited to attend their monthly prize-giving ceremony, where we were thanked for our contribution of photos for their forthcoming calendar.  We were also presented with a very generous contribution to our club funds.  They are a friendly lot, and we were made to feel most welcome.  The picturesque course is in great condition, and the club is highly recommended for golf enthusiasts in the area.  Click here for contact details.

  • Congratulations to Gary Rendle for winning our Photographer of the Year competition, narrowly clinching the title from last years winner Fred Snowden, plus a late charge by Scott Thomas who finished in third place overall.  See the final placings and results of individual rounds on our "Winning Shots" page.

  • See our new syllabus for the 2010/11 season on our "Programme" page.  Club nights kick off again on Tuesday 7th September, but before that there are various summer outings planned, which are also shown on the Programme page.

  • As I write, the club is getting ready to run a stall at the Hawarden Carnival on Saturday 10th July, on Hawarden Playing Fields.  Club members are invited to help set up the stall from 10am.  See you there!
